National Tequila Day!

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Today is National Tequila day! For tequila connoisseurs (such as myself) everyday is national tequila day. But today allows for me to share my favorite tequila infused cocktail with you. I’ve been making Palomas for years, so trust when I say this summer cocktail is so simple to make. You will look like a seasoned mixologist. Yes Mixology is a thing. But that’s another blog post. Let’s focus on the important task at hand….the crafting of this zesty bad-ass drink. I have provided the recipe below but feel free to edit the recipe to reflect your own personal taste. Drink smart and drink responsibly! Cheers!

Paloma cocktail:

1/4 cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice

1/4 cup blanco tequila, brand of your choice, I use Don Julio

Top with 1/4 cup club soda. An alternative to keep the zest longer, try grapefruit soda

Garnish with choice of 1 lime wedge or a peel from a grapefruit. For fun sprinkle a little lavender

Wedding Cakes Galore!

Posted by & filed under Blog.

When it comes to wedding cakes, the bar has been re-set! Today’s wedding cake industry has evolved into an “Master Artisan Crafts Only” arena. There are now competitive cooking shows dedicated to wedding cakes and desserts that have spilled over into the wedding market giving couples an amazing amount of inspiration. Basically if you can dream it, cake designers can create it. Below is a little cake collection of some incredibly gorgeous designs we have had the pleasure of incorporating into a few of our weddings. If only we had access to digital scratch n’ sniff!

You’re engaged! What to do next….

Posted by & filed under Blog.

1.) It’s always super exciting news when someone gets engaged. However and whenever you decide to spread the news, just make sure you do! Whether it is a formal announcement in mail or social media post, let your world share in your excitement! Keep in mind telling your families first should always be your first move.

2.) As soon as your friends and family know about your engagement, they will almost always want to know when you are getting married. You can give them a little teaser like the time of year you have decided to focus on. But your planning should begin fairly soon after being engaged, especially if you have agreed on a season.

DETERMINE YOUR BUDGET…a realistic one.

3.) Do your homework on this one. You should know from the beginning what you will have to spend and if you will be having any help form family members. You don’t want take into consideration a wedding that will not fit within your budget. There are plenty of wedding websites out there that can help you calculate your wedding costs based on your location and your ideal budget. If you hire a wedding planner one of the first services you will experience is a realistic cost for your wedding once all details and inspirations and budget are taken into consideration.

4.) I always like to tell my clients to create a Pinterest board even if it’s a secret one at that, You don’t need to many “cooks in the kitchen” with all the unwanted input you could get from those that follow you. A private board is always the way to go. This will also help both of you determine what your wedding will ultimately look like. Invite your wedding planner (if you have one) to the board. They will need access to your board to understand your wedding day visions.

5.) Registering for gifts is always fun. It’s a sure way to get the items you want. If you choose a honeymoon fund, this is great way to help alleviate the cost of your trip and will allow you to really be present and enjoy the trip together.

Don’t forget to contact your insurance agent for coverage should your ring get lost, stolen or damaged. Your jeweler will give you certified appraisal at the time you are buying the ring. Make sure you have a clear understanding of coverages and deductibles etc. Better to be safe than sorry.

Park Plaza Hotel Fundraising Feast

Posted by & filed under Blog.

This is my third year in a row producing St. Johns Well Child and Family Center‘s Movable Feast.  It is so much fun for a fantastic cause. St Johns Movable Feast is a fundraising opportunity for the establishment that prides itself on providing Center, South and Central Los Angles with the highest quality healthcare, health education, child development and literacy education. They are also a leading healthcare provider for the transgender community.

At the event, there are endless treasures of food, wine and music. This year we used the historic Park Plaza Hotel and embraced it’s stunning, vintage Hollywood charm. The event’s emcee this year was handsome actor Carlo Rota who brought his equally gorgeous wife Nazneen Contractor. St Johns was able to snap up some of LA’s most incredible restaurants who were eager to do their part.

In attendance and crafting incredible tasty bites were, TerroniLA, TerroniTO, WoodSpoon, JeCook, The Factory Kitchen, Wexler’s Deli and Starry Kitchen. The Truffle Brothers  (the name alone is delicious) also took part, along with Wally’s Wine of Beverly Hills who kept the crowd smiling with delicious wine and hipster cheesemongers educating guests on some of the most delicious European cheeses. Pazzo Gelato kept the sweet going with their amazing gelato and Cafe Dulce offered up frothy cappuccino along side Maru and there handmade apple tartlets. Intimate Malibu Wedding

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Hi everyone!  This wedding is so precious and heart-felt.  Anna and Ed came to me with a desperate need to speed up their wedding date. They had been together for 9 years and had decided to make their coupling legal.  At the same time they had learned that Ed’s sister had only a few months left to live. The wedding had to happen in 3 months. The only thing they new was that it had to be intimate, simple and had to happen near the ocean.

Needless to say we hit the ground running!  With no time to spare I found a cozy private residence in Malibu with a stunning 180 degree ocean view. I then quickly snatched up photographer Leah Lee and HeirloomLA and called my friends at Classic Party Rents. With this great team of people, we were able to give Anna & Ed their dream wedding.

Santa Barbara Wedding Montecito Wedding

Posted by & filed under Blog.

One of my favorite places on earth is Santa Barbara and Montecito. I had the wonderful opportunity to plan a wedding with a lovely couple that share my taste for Montecito. What a treat! We had a blast working together on all the details. The over all look was to be bohemian chic to match the effortless bohemian everyday look of the bride. Even their guests were chic!

From the vintage orchid house for the ceremony to the grounds of the private estate this wedding was perfect! The wedding cake was (by request of the bride) from Joans on Third who were delightful. Tables and lighting were from Town & Country We used plenty of eucalyptus branches as table dividers as well as additional decor. Complete gallery of photos can be viewed at Kat Keane Weddings & Events. This one truly is a stunner is also featured on Design Sponge! Photography by Tec Peteja.
